UPWARD SOCCER is an exciting league for kids 3 years old – 6th grade. This will be our 2nd season of soccer and we are very excited to bring this sport to Oak Park Christian Center.  Upward Sports at Oak Park continues to promote character and self-esteem in every child by providing a substitution system that promotes equal playing time for each player and an evaluation process to help provide equal teams and equal opportunity for improvement. When you play Upward Soccer, you and your friends:

  • Sign up individually, not as a team (buddy requests available for all divisions)

  • Practice and play a game once each week

  • Play at least half the game every game

  • Learn new drills to improve your soccer skills

  • Receive special recognition awards every game

You get cool soccer gear:

  • Upward soccer jersey and shorts

  • Upward soccer socks

  • Upward soccer water bottle

  • Car Magnet

Divisions will be as follows:

(divisions subject to change based on the number of participants)
3 year old and 4 years old: co-ed –

Kindergarten: separate divisions for boys and girls, however, may be co-ed depending on the number of participants

1st/2nd grades: separate divisions for boys and girls, possibly co-ed depending on the number of participants

3rd/4th grades:  separate divisions for boys and girls, possibly co-ed depending on the number of participants

5th/6th grades:  separate divisions for boys and girls, possibly co-ed depending on the number of participants.

Practices and games take place at Oak Park Christian Center: 2073 Oak Park Blvd, Pleasant Hill, Ca.  Your child will practice one day per week on either M/T/Th/F from 5-6pm / 6-7pm / 7-8pm.  They younger ones typically have the earlier practices.  There are no practices on Wednesdays.

CHARACTER BUILDING

Along with learning the game of soccer, character building is a huge part of our program!  Every practice, players will get a lesson in values such as self-control, kindness, caring, persevering, initiative, individuality, etc. We keep the practices and games fun and positive.  We encourage the Circle of Affirmation, which is...if the parents show respect for the referees and the coaches, the kids will do the same.
